US family visa J-2. Purpose:
for spouses and children of a J-1 status holder who wish to accompany him in the United States, or visit him during his studies in the states.

work in the United States, provided that the money earned will not be spent on supporting the J-1 visa holder.

Requirements.
You cannot stay in the United States longer than your J-1 visa holder.
In order to work on a J-2 visa, you need to issue a Work Permit. To do this, you need to contact the American Immigration Center (USCIS). After obtaining this Permit, you can be employed by a US employer, full or part time and at any salary. This Permit is issued after the required documents are mailed to USCIS. The registration procedure can take over 90 days.

The procedure for applying for a J-2 visa is the same as for a J-1. First, you need to obtain a Form DS-2019 – Certificate of Enrollment for a J-1 visa applicant (this can be your spouse or parent) from the educational institution. Then, along with this Form, you submit the following documents to the American Consulate:
Form DS-160 – Application for a Nonimmigrant Visa;
Document Form DS-158 – Summary;
a copy of a passport that is valid for at least six months outside the period of stay in the United States and with at least one blank page;
one recent photograph (37 x 37mm) of each applicant fully showing the face. The photo should be taken against a light background and without a headgear;
a copy of the Marriage Certificate for the dependent spouse (s);
a copy of the birth certificate of children under the age of 21;
photographs of your wedding or wedding invitations;
proof of sufficient funds to support you;
proof that you will leave the United States when your J-1 visa expires.
