You can qualify for a V-2 visa if you:
you are a child of a green card holder, unmarried and you are under 21 years old;
Your Petition was filed by your parent before December 21, 2000;
You have waited at least three years for a decision to become a Legal Resident, but your application is still pending or an immigrant visa is not yet available.
The National Visa Center will send a special notice to all applicants who applied before December 21, 2000 inclusive. There will be a list of required documents and instructions. The letter will also contain the necessary contact information. Documents for registration.
To apply for V-2 status, you must:
prove that you have waited at least three years for a decision from USCIS (the petition must have been filed before December 21, 2000);
Show that you have not received your V-2 visa turn even if USCIS has approved your application, or that your immigrant visa case is still pending;
provide Form I-539, Application for Renewal or Change of Nonimmigrant Status, and Supplement under letter A;
undergo a medical examination and provide Form I-693 – Medical Examination of Foreigners;
pay the required fee;
provide evidence of local family relationships to establish the reality of these relationships;
Provide health and criminal records. If you meet the criteria to apply for a V-2 visa at USCIS, the National Visa Application Center will notify you of your eligibility. Along with the notification, you will receive a document, Form DS-3052. You must complete and return this form to the American Consulate mentioned on your immigration visa application. You should be interviewed at the American Consulate interested in getting as much information as possible and any additional forms you may be required to complete.
US family visa V-1. Duration of stay:
You can stay in the United States in V-2 status for an initial two years, but with the option of further visa extensions for a maximum of 10 years of general stay, or until you reach 21 years of age.
