US Work Visa P-1. Requirements and documents
Requirements.
To qualify for a P-1 Visa, the following requirements must be met:
Individual athletes and sports teams
last season with a US Major Sports League team;
performing for a college (university) of the United States in competition with other colleges;
participation in international competitions as part of the national team of your country;
international recognition of you or your team;
receiving prestigious awards and prizes in individual or team competition;
a statement from a major U.S. sports league or your sport’s governing body confirming international recognition of you or your team;
the same statement from an expert or a well-known sports columnist.
It is necessary to fulfill at least two of these points.
Creative groups
The achievements of your group must be globally recognized.
1. You must provide a contract with a US employer or agency and prove that:
for a tour in the United States, the international fame of the group is necessary;
seventy-five percent of the members of the group have been in the composition for at least one year and perform the main functions in the work of the group;
Your group has received significant international awards or prizes for outstanding achievement; 2. In addition to the aforementioned requirements, your team must provide evidence for at least three of the suggested points:
Your group performs and will perform at famous cultural events as the main one;
Your group has received international recognition for outstanding achievement;
Your group is highly publicized or critically acclaimed for success;
Your group is highly regarded for its achievements by organizations, critics, government agencies, or other experts;
Your group sets itself a salary or other remuneration comparable to others.
Documents for Registration.
You cannot apply for a P-1 visa on your own behalf. A US employer must sponsor your P-1 visa. He must submit a Work Visa Application (Form I-129), O and P Visa Supplement (Form I-129O / P) and other supporting documentation to the American Immigration Center (USCIS). Once USCIS gives the go-ahead, you can apply for a P-1 Visa at the American Consulate.
To apply for a P-1 visa, you must provide an original or a copy of a Form I-797A or B Work Permit (permit sent to your employer when the petition is approved).
Your visa application must include the following documents:
Form DS-160 – Application for a Nonimmigrant Visa;
a copy of a passport that is valid for at least six months outside the period of stay in the United States and with at least one blank page;
two identical color photographs on a light background showing the entire face without head covering. You can wear a headdress if required by the religious community of which you are a member;
a letter from your US employer describing your activities and a statement that you have the necessary skills for the job offered.
US Work Visa P-1. duration of stay
Individual athletes and sports groups
You can initially apply for a P-1 visa for 5 years, followed by repeated renewals for 1 year and a maximum period of 10 years.
Creative groups
You can apply for a P-1 visa for a period of touring the United States, but not more than 1 year, with the possibility of subsequent repeated visa extensions for 1 year and a maximum period of 10 years.
Visa for family members of the P-1 visa holder
A spouse and / or children under the age of 21 who wish to accompany you to the United States during your stay can apply for a P-4 visa.
