Green Card Lottery

Living in the USA is the dream of many people from around the world. It is here that they consider it possible to fully express themselves, achieve the most incredible goals and satisfy their ambitions. However, in reality, obtaining a residence permit in the United States is very laborious and practically impossible for the overwhelming majority. Indeed, for this it is necessary to comply with one of the following points:

the presence of close relatives in the United States;
the presence of outstanding achievements in the field of science, art or sports;
making significant investments in the US economy.
But there is another way to move to live in the United States, which does not require large material, physical and mental costs – this is participation in the Green Card lottery, which is produced annually by the US Department of State. For this, 55,000 immigration visas are allocated, which are subsequently drawn among the participants in the lottery.
At the same time, based on the data on the level of immigration in a particular geographic region, it is determined how many immigrant visas should be granted to each region. Every year, an average of 8 to 9 million applicants participate in the Green Card lottery, which together with their family members is 15-20 million people. The probability of winning is thus approximately 0.25-0.35%. And since there are significantly more notifications of winnings than the available visa quota, the probability of the winner being interviewed to obtain an immigrant visa is approximately 15-25%. Approximately one third of applicants are refused during an interview due to incorrectly prepared documents or the discovery of grounds for refusing immigration. That is, the probability of obtaining an immigrant visa is reduced to 10-15%. Therefore, if you took part in the Green Card lottery and received a notification of winning, this does not mean that you have received an immigrant visa. For you, this is only a signal to start active actions.
